Synopsis
Can Emma be brave enough to accept the truth? And what’s actually going to happen with her followers after they find out about the secret in her life?
Colour Me Blue is the story of Emma, a life coach influencer whose unexpected phone call on her husband’s birthday night forces her to finally face the truth. Right as they’re locked together in a 14-day quarantine.
Director Statement
This project is deeply personal. Years ago, I witnessed my ex-girlfriend cheating on me with my friend. I saw it with my own eyes, yet I spent five years convincing myself it didn’t happen. That denial, those years of emotional negotiation, taught me how powerful, painful, and necessary truth can be. This film is born from that experience.
Colour Me Blue is a story about how we deal with truth in our lives. It asks a simple but difficult question: Are we brave enough to face the truth when it finally arrives?
This movie is about acceptance.
Our protagonist Emma is an influencer, one of those fake life coaches we see everywhere today. People who try to present their life as happier, more colourful, and more perfect than it is. Their followers become a kind of currency, a measure of worth. But behind the filters on Instagram, their real lives are often full of fear, insecurity, and secrets.
Josh, her partner, tries to please everyone, even if he ends up lying to do so.
The title Colour Me Blue means “make me sad” or “surprise me.” With the colour technique I used in this movie, I tried to highlight this moment, which at the end shows her life turning blue.
As an editor as well as a director, I approached the film with a different technique to show Emma’s imagination.
My intention is to invite the audience into that moment of recognition, the moment when the truth you feared becomes the truth you finally accept.

Chelsea Brown
Chelsea grew up in Sydney, Australia as the precocious oldest child of six, with a keen fascination for film and stories. A commercial actor at two years old, she later became a youth ambassador for Sydney's Griffin Theatre Company during high school. Graduating dux of her year, Chelsea took a break from her acting ambitions to study law and writing, and to travel the world. She returned to her creative passion in her final years of university, before studying full time at the International Screen Academy, Sydney. She is now based in Vancouver, Canada.
Josh Cambel
Thomas Cadrot
Thomas Julien Cadrot was born in Paris, France, the youngest of three children to Flora and Fernand, both from the scenic island of Martinique. Raised in diverse locations including Paris, Miami, San Juan, and Caracas, he became fluent in French, English, and Spanish, exposed to a wide variety of cultures from an early age. Always passionate about the performing arts, Thomas trained and participated in projects while earning his master's degree in international business. With his degree in hand, he faced a decision between pursuing his creative passion or following a conventional path. The former prevailed, bringing him to the beautiful coastal city of Vancouver, Canada, where he currently resides and continues building his prolific career in front of the camera.

Saeed Vahidi
Saeed Vahidi is an Iranian-Canadian filmmaker, editor, and educator based in Vancouver. He studied filmmaking in Iran and continued his studies in film editing at the Film and Television Institute of India.His Canadian directorial debut, “We Were There” (2019), won the Best Genre Award at McMinnville Short Film Festival 2020, Gold Remi Award at Worldfest Houston Short Film Festival 2020, Best Drama at Southern Shorts Awards 2020, among others.
When he is not making films or editing, Saeed mentors young editors and he helps independent Iranian theatre groups show their plays in Canada.
He is a real film lover who has to watch a movie every night before going to sleep.

James Ilecic
James Ilecic is a film and television editor who has been working in post production in Canada and the US since graduating from film school in 1991. He has a wide range of experience editing feature films, series television, movies of the week, music videos and documentaries across many genres including drama, comedy and sci-fi.
He has also served as an editing consultant for the Women in the Director’s Chair workshop, and recently as an editing mentor for the Crazy 8’s short film festival. Outside of the edit room, he enjoys playing a variety of musical instruments.
